Tucked right outside The Lamb Inn in the village of Crawley, Oxfordshire, this is a proper grab-and-go coffee window rather than a sit-down café — and that's exactly its charm. It's the kind of spot you'd walk straight past if you didn't know to look for it, which is precisely why locals love keeping it to themselves.
What we tried
The vanilla iced latte
This was the clear winner of the visit. Smooth, well-balanced, and not overly sweet — the vanilla iced latte is the kind of drink that makes you want to turn the car around just to get another one. If you only try one thing here, make it this.
Cinnamon croissant bun
Our highlight of the whole stop. Warm, properly spiced, and not at all the soggy, oversweet mess cinnamon pastries can sometimes turn into. This one had real bite and balance — genuinely one of the better pastries we've had in Oxfordshire.
Lemon curd croissant bun
A very close second. Sharp, zesty lemon curd against buttery pastry layers — bright and refreshing, and a great option if you want something a little less rich than the cinnamon.
Is The Shepherds Stop dog friendly?
Extremely. With outdoor seating right outside The Lamb Inn, this is an easy yes for anyone walking their dog through the Cotswolds countryside. Whether you're stopping mid-walk for a breather or making the coffee itself the destination, dogs are clearly welcome here.
